The right solution depends on the building, not the product

The correct system depends on the structure, the activity taking place, the weights and equipment being used, the rooms surrounding the gym and the acoustic result that has to be achieved. We combine specialist gym flooring experience with a practical understanding of impact noise, structure borne vibration, equipment isolation and real world gym use. The result is a system that is buildable, durable and suited to the actual problem, rather than a generic layer of thick rubber being sold as a complete acoustic solution.

From acoustic report to buildable system

Acoustic reports often define a target but leave the flooring contractor to turn that requirement into a practical system. That gap is where projects come unstuck, and it is where we are most useful. We can review the acoustic report, structural information, equipment schedule and proposed gym layout, then work out what actually needs to be built.

Where certification is required

Where engineering certification or measured acoustic compliance is required, we coordinate with a qualified acoustic consultant and, where necessary, a structural engineer. We build the system, the relevant consultant verifies the technical performance criteria. Nobody is left holding a target with no one to sign it off.

Honest advice about what a floor can do

We will not describe ordinary rubber flooring as soundproof or promise a result that has not been tested. Where the target is demanding, we recommend the appropriate consultant involvement, physical testing and operational controls. That is less comfortable than a confident sales pitch and considerably cheaper than a floor that does not perform.

What we review on an acoustic project

  • The sensitive rooms or tenancies surrounding the gym
  • Whether the problem is airborne noise, impact noise, structure borne vibration or all three
  • Maximum free weights, expected drop heights and the types of equipment in use
  • The areas needing the greatest treatment, and where a lower build-up is appropriate
  • Available floor height, transitions, access, stability and structural loading
  • Whether a standard product, a targeted platform or a full sprung or floating system fits best

Bring us in early.

Floor plans, an equipment layout, a specification or an acoustic report. Any of those let us look at the job as a system before anything is ordered. The quote comes back free.

Common questions.

Can an existing gym be improved without replacing all the flooring?
Sometimes. Targeted platforms, equipment isolation, changes to zoning or localised floor upgrades may provide a practical improvement. The correct option depends on how and where the vibration is entering the structure.
Is a no dropping policy still required with acoustic flooring?
It can be. Acoustic treatment reduces risk, it does not give unlimited permission to drop any weight from any height. The permitted use should reflect the tested system and the sensitivity of the building.
We have a gym going in above occupied tenancies. Where do we start?
Send the acoustic report, the structural information, the equipment schedule and the proposed layout. Those four things together tell us far more than any one of them alone, and they let us identify the high risk areas before anything is specified.
Do you provide the acoustic certification?
No, and be wary of a flooring contractor who says they do. A qualified acoustic consultant verifies performance. We coordinate with them and build the system that meets it.

Tell us about the space.

Send through the size, the suburb and what happens on the floor. You will get an honest answer about whether we are the right fit.
